  • Notice of Drinking water violation: The Town of Manassa received an M611- Management violation during a routine drinking water inspection dated November 6, 2025. The M611 - Management: Supplier has Permitted a Cross Connection. (T2): Supplier has permitted a cross connection and did not control the cross connection within the 120-day deadline or within a timeline specified in an alternative schedule. This is a backflow prevention and cross-connection control (BPCCC) treatment violation of Regulation 11, Section 11.39(6)(a)(ii). In accordance with Regulation 11, Section 11.39(3)(d)(ii and iv), suppliers must ensure that no backflow prevention assembly or method is utilized for more than two consecutive calendar years without being tested or inspected, service being suspended to the customer, or the cross connection being removed. During the sanitary survey, the department inspector observed that an assembly on the irrigation line at the Catholic Church had not been tested in 2023, 2024 or 2025. Having an assembly exceed two consecutive calendar years without being tested meets the definition of permitting a cross connection. This constitutes a backflow prevention and cross-connection control treatment technique violation in accordance with Regulation 11,Section 11.39(6)(a)(ii) and must be corrected. Uncontrolled cross connections can lead to a back pressure or siphonage event that may allow contaminants or disease-causing organisms to enter the drinking water, which can cause diarrhea, nausea, cramps, and associated headaches.' Resolution of the violation is required by March 25, 2026, and we have discontinued service to the affected connection until the cross connection is resolved.

The water to the Catholic Church was disconnected on November 7th. Testing of the backflow prevention device will be required in order for service to be reinstated, proof of a passing test result will need to be provided.
